ABOUT KRISTINA

I grew up in an athletic household, participating in various sports as a kid. When I was 21 I sustained a minor back injury. I knew that movement was an important part of recovery, so I started doing Pilates and slowly rebuilt my strength. Within three months I was pain-free. I decided to continue Pilates, because it kept me free from injury and challenged me physically and mentally. I have been hooked on the practice ever since.

In 2002 I decided to make a career in Pilates and achieved my first full Pilates Teacher Certification. I opened my first studio in San Francisco in 2008. In 2020 I moved to Marin and opened my home studio, offering online and in studio private sessions.

I have the pleasure of working with a wide range of clients of different ages, each with unique movement goals. I love the challenge of designing a program for each individual's needs. Working one-on-one with people, often two – three times a week, means we spend a good amount of time together. I believe humor is an important part of our session and love to infuse my classes with laughter. Pilates can lead to some funny moments, and while working out has to be effective, it also needs to be fun and enjoyable.

Pilates has fully integrated into my everyday life. It supports me in everyday tasks. I have more overall body-mind awareness, as well as muscle strength and control, which I find more important than a flat tummy (although overall toning is a side benefit). It has helped me heal through injuries and illness, and prepared me for athletic events, making me a stronger runner/skier/golfer/cyclist/athlete. I love the challenge and variation Pilates provides me. Some days I need a class focused on recovery, some days I need extra strengthening. Pilates does all that and more for me (and will for you, too).
